October is the start of one of my favourite seasons with the crisper mornings, days that are quite often still sunny and warm, the leaves beginning to turn for those crunchy walks in the woods. Getting outside at this time of year is sometimes even more rewarding as it takes a bit of effort to get off the couch, rug up and get walking. But so worth it when you experience fresh air, exercise, views and great company!
I’ve had a bit of a re-jig of my regular walks schedule with a few outings planned this autumn too.
Special Dates this Autumn
26th October – Westonbirt Arboretum (meet there to start at 10:30am or grab a lift from Marlborough)
7th November – Stourhead (meet to start there at 10:30am or grab a lift from Marlborough)
December – Trip to London – walk with Martin Christie (who brought Nordic Walking to the UK) and a chance to grab lunch and a bit of shopping. We will travel by train – watch this space for more details.
Walk Schedule this Autumn.
Mondays: We start the week with a general paced Workout Walk at 9:45am. Those that want to start the week with a challenge can come to Ski Fit first at 8:30am and then follow on with a walk to stretch out those muscles.
Tuesdays are my day off. I try to keep it to myself but I’m often doing admin and recce walks today.
Wednesdays/Thursdays – So I will alternate an early morning walk and an evening walk. Adventure walks on Wednesdays either mid morning or early afternoon. Easier walks for beginners on Thursdays.
Friday – Cafe walks. Always with a coffee stop at middle or the end. If not near a cafe we might have a short drive to one or I will bring my Car Boot Cafe. We may have coffee on other days but Fridays are special!!
Saturdays – Saturdays are a chance to get an early morning walk (or take part in Park Run – nordic walking it of course once a month)
Sundays – once a month I will run a longer Sunday walk with breakfast/brunch afterwards. Watch out for special events. This is usually the same weekend as our Park Run on a Saturday.
